John 4:35-36

"Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit until life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together"... John 4:35-36

The First P Day for 2012!

We were so excited to receive so many pictures of Elder Nellesen, his Christmas and adventures in Zimbabwe.  He truly looks as though he is thoroughly enjoying himself, making the best of what he has and letting his personality shine!  Watch for his letter in the next day or two.  Meanwhile take a look at his photos in the Photos Page.

Christmas Day Call 2011

[12/22/2011 11:24:00 AM] Zimbabwe AP's: Hi Sister Nellesen. May we recommend that you Skype with Elder Nellesen at  3.30pm CAT (which will be 6.30am your time on Sunday 25 December).

Call from Sister Dube (aka Elder Nellesen), duration 32:45.

We were so excited to not only hear Elder Nellesen's voice but thanks to skype we were also able to see his face.  He had been to a lake the day before and got his face pretty sunburned.  There is no sunscreen in Zimbabwe so he's been using it very sparingly.

He has got a new slight accent pronouncing his "t" very strong and proper.  For instance, he mentioned a water bottle.  When we heard his say the words it was waTer boTTle.  In such a short time he's gained this accent so by the time Mother's Day comes we most likely will notice an even stronger accent.

He skyped us for 30 minutes from the mission home in Harare, Zimbabwe.  He is learning to bare his testimony in another language with the help of the branch missionaries.  I don't know for sure the name of that language.  There is some clicking in the language.  He could say a couple words for us in another language but again I don't know what language it is.  He is on an English speaking mission.

He was able to take a shower at the mission home, something he hasn't been able to do since he was there last, on November 3.  He also told us he's only had meat 5 times because the power goes out so it's hard to keep food at safe temperatures.  He confirmed that they are hoping to move on Dec. 31 to a better place with a shower.  This place is next to a butchery as he called it, which is a butcher shop where he can get meat regularly.

He is given $120 US dollars every two weeks.  Or as he said one hundred twenTy dollars to spend. He has a lot of money left because there isn't much to buy there.  He said he bought 12 elder's breakfasts that day for $20.  But he also had a hamburger the day before for $21.

He looked good, He looked happy, He's a little sick of the camping idea of 74 days but overall He is doing well and very good things.

He told us that they eat Sadza a lot.  They eat with their hands there.  He plans on fixing us some sadza when he gets home.

It was awesome to see him and hear his voice.  We all enjoyed it very much.

P Day once again....

This mission is anything but boring!  Elder Nellesen's birthday is on Friday!  Rumor has it that the missionaries may be going to President Dube's house for Christmas.  This is where all mail is sent to the Zimbabwe missionaries.  I think Elder Nellesen would love to have a letter from many of us.  Would you write to him using www.dearelder.com?  I'm sure it will help keep his spirits up without his family for Christmas if he can hold a letter from you in his hands.

We love Elder Nellesen....and don't tell him but we miss him very much!

Letters from Zimbabwe

Two weeks of letters from Elder Nellesen and new photos in the "Photos" page.  He's doing great even in his living conditions.  I guess his messy room was to prepare him for poverty living?

Letter from Elder Nellesen

Several photos and a couple letters are new to the blog.  I found his companions mom on a mission mom website this week.  Thank you to them for raising a son who can put up with my son.

Letter from Elder Nellesen

Read Elder Nellesen's letter in the "letters" page and look at the two new photos he sent in the "photos" page.  He's doing much better....aside from bed bugs.
